(Pics) Chhattisgarh: Wreath laying ceremony to martyrs in Naxal ambush
Jagdalpur, March 12: The martyrs who lost their lives in the Naxal ambush yesterday have been laid to rest in a wreath-laying ceremony at Jagdalpur. Among those who attended the ceremony were Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Chief Minister Raman Singh.
While the guard of honour was underway, the underlaying tension was visible between the two ministers as they blamed each other for the mishap. However, sources say that it was due to sheer negligence that the Naxal ambush took place.
According to intelligence sources, the police and the CRPF had received prior alert about a possible ambush as two large armed Naxal troops were spotted in the Tahakwada area.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, however said that the incident should not be politicized and the state had done whatever was possible. He also said that the Naxals had entered from the neighboring state.
Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, however, said that the state should have been proactive sending out the troops to the area. This is the third such ambush in the Bastar-Dantewada belt, which has killed 15 CRPF jawans and a civilian.
