(Pic) Youth killed by tiger in Delhi Zoo

, Sep 23: An unidentified youth on Tuesday was killed by a white tiger after he jumped into the animal's cage in Delhi

, an official said.

"The youth himself jumped into the tiger's cage. We are trying to ascertain his identity," R.A. Khan, curator, National Zoological Park, Delhi said. However, eyewitnesses state otherwise saying that the barricade of the Tiger's enclosure was low and that the boy slipped and fell into it.

Many claim that there weren't many security guards or zoo personnel in the vicinity who could come to the rescue of the boy. The tiger mauled the youth, killing him.

The incident took place at 1:30 pm.
