People Of India With Israel: PM Modi Tells Netanyahu Over Phone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and informed him that the people of India are with Israel during this period.

"I thank Prime Minister @netanyahu for his phone call and providing an update on the ongoing situation. People of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," PM Modi said on social media platform X.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip has entered the fourth day as the death toll has crossed the 1600 mark.

Hamas launched the operation Al-Aqsa Storm' by firing thousands of rockets into Israel on Saturday. Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters infiltrated Israel by land, sea and air.

Responding to the terrorist attack, the Prime Minister had said, "Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour".

On Tuesday, Israeli warplanes pounded downtown Gaza City, home to Hamas' centres of government, with relentless bombardments, after Israel's PM vowed retaliation against the Islamic militant group that would "reverberate for generations", PTI reported.

On ther other hand, Hamas intensified the conflict, vowing to execute captured Israelis if attacks on civilians occurred without prior notice. The Israeli military announced the discovery of approximately 1,500 Hamas fighters' bodies within Israeli territory as they solidified control in the southern region and "reestablished complete authority" over the border. It remained uncertain whether these figures aligned with the casualties previously disclosed by Palestinian authorities.
