Pathankot attack: Punjab SP, Salwinder Singh sacked
The government ordered the premature retirement of Punjab Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh citing 'controversial conduct, indiscipline and for bringing a bad name to the Punjab police.'
It may be recalled that Salwinder had made a claim after the Pathankot attack that he was captured by the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists. He was questioned by the National Investigation Agency and even put through a polygraph test before being given a clean chit.
The order retiring him was signed by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh last Saturday.Salwinder had been declared a proclaimed offender in a sexual abuse case. There were two cases registered against him following which he was suspended and lodged in the Amritsar central jail.
