Pathankot attack: Combing operations will continue
Pathankot, Jan 4: After almost sixty hours, security forces have managed to kill another terrorist who had laid siege at the Pathankot air force station. While sources say all six terrorists have been killed, the NSG says that five are dead and the operation continues to comb the area
While four of the terrorists were killed on January 2 when the attack began, the other two kept the security forces engaged almost for 48 hours.
Combing operations will continue for the next 24 to 48 hours, officials confirmed.
The two remaining terrorists kept the security forces engaged for nearly 48 hours. They had even managed to enter into the quarters of the IAF officials.
Later on they were forced out of there. Finally the security forces had to blow the two terrorists out of their hiding. One of the terrorists was blown into pieces while the other was charred. The body is still being identified.
The two terrorists had taken shelter in one of the quarters of the IAF officials for most part of the day. They were heavily armed and kept the security forces engaged for the entire day.
The area has not yet been declared sanitized by the security officials. There will be combing operations that would continue over the next 24 to 48 hours. The terrorists who had plenty of ammunition may have left behind un-exploded bombs and grenades.
The bomb disposal squad is also at the spot and is helping security forces santize the area before it can be declared completely safe.
