Monsoon Session Day 2 Highlights: RS, LS Adjourned After Ruckus Over Manipur Issue
Amid uproar by the Opposition parties seeking a discussion on the Manipur situation, the proceedings of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day on Friday.
The Upper House of Parliament, which was adjourned in the morning session over the Manipur issue and the Chair expunging certain words from proceedings, witnessed uproarious scenes when it reassembled for the post-lunch session.

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House about the meeting of the business advisory committee held on Thursday and said that the report of the committee be taken into account and tabled.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was expected to give a statement on the Manipur violence in the Parliament while the Opposition parties demand an elaborate response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Several opposition MPs gave notices to discuss the situation in Manipur on the second day of the Monsoon Session.
Both houses will meet on Monday.
Responding to the disruptions in Parliament proceedings, Union Minister Anurag Thaku said, "The opposition makes some or the other excuses to avoid discussions and disrupt parliamentary proceedings. Some are no longer a part of the parliament house so, they don't want the parliament to further proceed... Why is the Opposition running away from parliamentary discussions? Is it because their politicians are no longer serving the parliament? or are they trying to avoid discussion on the loopholes of their government?"
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Opposition is not serious about discussing the Manipur issue in the Parliament. "The government wants to discuss the Manipur issue. PM Modi himself said that the country is ashamed of whatever has happened in the state and assured strict action. Still, if the opposition does not want to discuss it only means that they are not serious," he added.
