Panipat train blast- Second in one year

Panipat, May 13: A minor blast on a passenger train at Panipat has sent the security establishment into a tizzy. The blast took place on the stationary passenger train.

The bomb was planted in the bogey of the Panipat-Ambala passenger train and due to the explosion one woman has been injured.

Initial reports suggest that the bomb was connected to a timer device. A forensic team has already collected the samples and other material in a bid to ascertain the nature of the bomb.

Officials say that it is too early to call it a terror attack, but all angles are being explored. The bomb was not of very high intensity.

As a result of the explosion, one woman was injured and the windows of the bogey were damaged. The incident took place an hour before the train was scheduled to leave.

This blast brings back memories of an attack on the same train in the month of January 2016. A low intensity bomb had been planted in the train.

However, there were no casualties. The investigators had said that this blast could have been the handiwork of the SIMI whose members had fled from the Madhya Pradesh jail.
