Pakistan's trade official was an undercover ISI agent in India
Syed Furukh Habib is a top ISI officer and chief of intelligence operations in India. He was in charge of India-Pakistan trade relations
New Delhi, Nov 2: Syed Furukh Habib is a top ISI officer and chief of intelligence operations in India. A few years back he was a commercial counsellor in the Pakistan High Commission in India.
He was in charge of India-Pakistan trade relations. He was however outed by Mehmood Akthar, the staffer in the Pakistan mission who was detained and then released after being caught for spying.
This has raised a big question on the manner in which Pakistan has been operating. OneIndia in a series of articles had reported how terror modules and spy rings were being run out of Pakistan's High Commissions.
Under
the
garb
of
trade:
Akthar
names
Habib
as
the
module
boss.
He
says
that
Habib
was
in
charge
of
the
operations
in
India.
Habib
was
posted
in
India
as
a
commercial
counsellor.
This was just a cover say Intelligence Bureau officials. He was sent specifically to oversee this operation.
How spy rings operate out of Pakistan missions in India and Sri Lanka
Going by this confession made by Akthar which has been caught on camera, it becomes clear that not all in the Pakistan High Commission have clean hands. There are several officials in the mission who are ISI agents or officers. They have expertise in spying and hence have been sent to India, the IB officer also says.
Are Pakistan high commission staffers running terror modules too?
India will raise this issue strongly with Pakistan. Moreover a through back ground check of all those being posted in the Pakistan High Commission will be undertaken in future to ensure that such incidents do not occur, officials also add.
