Pakistan: Father kills son with knife, hammer for not offering namaz

A man in Pakistan killed his son for not offering namaz despite a warning that was given to him.
Haji Saeed is accused of killing his 24-year old son, Muhammed Sohail in Glisten-e-Johar, Karachi.

Media reports in Pakistan said that the accused killed his son with a hammer and knife when he returned home from prayers on February 22. On returning him, he found his son sleeping and this enraged him. The accused claimed that he had warned his son several times and told him to offer prayers on time. The man got frustrated when he saw his son sleeping instead of offering namaz. He lost his cool, grabbed a hammer and attacked him without any warning, reports also said.
When the police were notified about the incident, they arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. The Shahrah-e-Faisal police station has registered a case against the accused for murder. The victim's body has been taken to the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center for post-mortem.
The father had returned home after offering pre-dawn namaz. However on returning home, he found son to be fast asleep. Enraged by the same and angered by the fact that the son had not heeded to repeated warnings, Haji Saeed killed his son Muhammed Sohail by stabbing him, the police said.
The police have also seized a hammer and knife from the spot.
The police were told by the father that the son was disobedient and used to fight with him often. This was another reason why he was angry with his son, he said.
The Station House officer of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station said that the deceased Sohail was stabbed to death by his father Saeed Ahmed. On the basis of the information by the locals the police arrived at the scene, arrested the accused and seized the murder weapons.
Both the father and son hai from Khanpur Katora in South Punjab. They were staying in a rented room in Karachi. While the victim worked as a tailor, the father works at a factory.
According to Superintendent of Police (ASP), Highway Faisal Zafar Siddiqui Changa, Sohail had been killed and his body had been recovered and sent for postmortem examination.
