Pahalgam Terror Attack: PM Modi Holds High-Level Meeting With Defence Minister, NSA, CDS, Armed Forces Chiefs

In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the tragic loss of 26 lives, mostly tourists, a crucial security meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) took place in New Delhi. The meeting was focused on the nation's security following the devastating incident. The meeting saw participation from the top brass of various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard (NSG), and Assam Rifles. Home Secretary Govind Mohan led this significant gathering.

In retaliation to the Pahalgam assault, which sent shockwaves of grief and condemnation throughout the country, authorities have escalated counter-terrorism measures. Operations are being conducted across Jammu and Kashmir to prevent further tragedies, as disclosed by sources to ANI. However, due to the delicate nature of these missions, specific details remain undisclosed to the public at this time. This strategic silence underlines the sensitive balance between informing the populace and ensuring operational security.

In a proactive move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted thorough raids across 13 locations in the Doda district earlier on Monday. These operations aimed to dismantle terrorist hideouts and apprehend individuals linked to terror factions. Furthermore, in Srinagar, extensive searches were carried out at the homes of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and associates of banned terrorist groups. These actions are part of a larger investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), involving 63 individuals' residences. Under the watchful eyes of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, these searches sought to seize weapons, documents, and digital devices for evidence collection and intelligence gathering. The objective is clear: to thwart any plans that threaten national security.

The tragic Pahalgam incident has not only led to an increase in security operations but also stirred a wave of sympathy and support for the victims' families. The Maharashtra government announced financial assistance, pledging Rs 50 lakh to each family of the six state natives who perished in the attack. This gesture of solidarity reflects the collective mourning and resolve to stand against terrorism.
