Owaisi demands CM Yogi Adityanath's resignation after Atiq-Ashraf's murder
All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the murders of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed.

Addressing a press conference, Owaisi called for an investigation into the incident under the supervision of the Supreme Court stating that no officer from UP should be involved in the investigation.
"I demand that the Supreme Court should form a team and investigate this matter. We also demand all police officers present there should be removed from service," was quoted saying by ANI.
"Atiq and his brother were killed while in police custody. How did the killers get those weapons?... They were also heard raising Jai Shri Ram slogans. Why were they raising religious slogans after killing them? What will you call them if not terrorists? Will you call them Patriots? People celebrating this incident are vultures...," he said.
The Uttar Pradesh government has a role in this. This was a 'cold-blooded' murder. This incident raises a big question about law and order. It raises a big question about law and order situation in the state. I demand the resignation of chief minister Yogi Adityanath," he said.
"If people are killed like this openly, will the public have any faith in the constitution and Law and order of the country? I have always been saying that BJP in Uttar Pradesh is not running the government by the rule of law but by the rule of gun," he further said.
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three men disguised as media persons while they were being escorted by police to a medical college here on Saturday night.
