Over breakfast, PM Modi, Shah discuss UP politics with BJP MPs

The special meeting of the BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh with PM Modi and Shah was hosted in Delhi.

New Delhi, March 23: On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh members of Parliament from them Bharatiya Janata Party met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah in Delhi. "PM Modi and BJP president Shah met MPs from Uttar Pradesh at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi," reported ANI.

The saffron party has 71 MPs from the state. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP won 71 seats out of 80 that helped the party to come to power in the Centre. Some of the BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh who attended the meeting were veteran Murli Manohar Joshi, Hema Malini and Varun Gandhi, to name a few.

After registering a massive victory in the recently concluded assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the special session of the BJP MPs from the state with PM Modi and Shah caught the attention of all. Although till now, no official statement has been issued by the BJP regarding what transpired in the meeting, sources say the meeting was held to discuss the formation of the BJP government in the state, upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2019 and various issues confronting Uttar Pradesh, to name a few.

Media reports say PM Modi and Shah had breakfast with the MPs and thanked them for working hard to help the party come to power in Uttar Pradesh. Two days ago, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to Delhi. He addressed a session of Parliament and met all the top Union ministers from BJP in the national capital.
