Over 4,000 MoUs from vibrant Guj summits eventually scrapped
Gandhinagar, Mar 3: Gujarat government today admitted in the Assembly that out of more than 11,000 memoranda of understanding signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summits of 2009 and 2011, more than 4,000 were eventually scrapped.
During the Question Hour, Congress's Shailesh Parmar, through a written question, asked for details about the MoUs signed during VGS investor summits in 2009 and 2011 and how many of them had been scrapped. In a written reply, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, who handles industries portfolio, said that 3,346 MoUs were signed in VGS-2009, of which 951 projects were cancelled.

In 2011, 8,380 MoUs were signed, of which 3,058 MoUs were later cancelled. In response to Parmar's question about the investment made in the projects where production began, Patel stated that investment is an ongoing process and new investments keep coming even after the project gets operational.
Patel did not give any definite figure about the investment. Parmar also asked the CM to give details about employment generated by the operational projects which came from VGS held in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. Patel said it is not possible to give exact figure.
