Osmania University centenary celebration: Entry only if fingerprints linked to Aadhaar card
In an attempt to avert any untoward incident, police has deployed fingerprint scanners at the campus venue, to allow only 'genuine' persons inside.
Hyderabad, April 19: As the iconic Osmania University is all set to organise its centenary celebrations (100 years) on April 26, only those will get entry whose fingerprints will match with that linked to Aadhaar Card.
According to reports, only mandatory online registration and getting bar-coded entry pass is not enough to be a part of the inaugural ceremony of OU's centenary celebrations.

In an attempt to avert any untoward incident, police has deployed fingerprint scanners at the campus venue, to allow only 'genuine' persons inside. Alumni, teachers, non-teaching staff and students would have to compulsorily undertake fingerprint scanning to go inside the venue, except VIP guests.
During the online registration, people who want to attend OU's centenary celebrations, would have to submit their Aadhaar Card number. Entry gates for VIPs, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, alumni and students would be different.
Celebrations from April 26 to April 28
The centenary fete is scheduled to be held from April 26 to April 28. A seminar, highlighting the role of Osmania University in Telangana and nation-building, will also be held at Tagore Auditorium from 2.30 pm to 6 pm.
Around hundred foreign students of the university from 32 countries will participate in the cultural activities to be performed on the inaugural day.
VIP guests to grace the occasion
As part of the grandiose fest, four members of the erstwhile Nizam of Hyderabad's family-- Mir Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah, Mir Karamath Ali Khan Muffakham Jah, Nawab Mir Azmet Ali Khan and Nawab Shahamat Jah, all grandchildren of the university's founder Nizam VII, Mir Osman Ali Khan, will be among the chief guests with other eminent persons, a daily reported.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan, Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Union Minister of Human Resources Development Prakash Javdekar and state ministers will be among the VIP dignitaries at the function.
The State government and Osmania University have made elaborate arrangements for the centenary celebrations of the prestigious varsity.
In Dec 2016, it was reported that OU was befreft of funds to celebrate its completion of 100 years in agrand manner. The University had then approached both the state and the Union Human Resource Ministry for funds.
The Osmania University was founded in 1917 and came into existence in 1918.
