Operation Mahadev: 3 Terrorists killed In Encounter With Security Forces In J&K's Dara

In a major counter-terrorism operation, security forces have shot down three terrorists in a fierce gunfight in the Lidwas area near Srinagar on Monday, NDTV reported citing sources.

The encounter, part of "Operation Mahadev," was conducted jointly by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police following specific intelligence inputs about militant movement in the region.

According to officials, the operation was launched in the Mulnar area of Harwan, close to Dachigam National Park, after surveillance indicated the presence of armed terrorists. A search operation quickly turned into an encounter when the hiding militants opened fire on security personnel.

The Army's Chinar Corps confirmed the engagement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "OP MAHADEV - Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress." After an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were eliminated. Reinforcements were rushed to the area, and combing operations are underway to ensure no further threats remain.

Authorities have cordoned off the area, and the identities of the slain terrorists are being ascertained. This operation marks another significant success for security forces in their ongoing efforts to curb militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
