Open Shower: Indian Railways Faces Criticism as Video of Water Leakage in Train Coach Goes Viral

A video of water leaking from the roof of an AC coach on the Avantika Express train went viral on social media, sparking criticism of Indian Railways. The video showed passengers sitting in wet seats as water dripped from the ceiling.

The footage, shared by a passenger, highlights the deplorable condition of the coach during rainfall, as water pours in from the roof.

Open Shower: Indian Railways Faces Criticism as Video of Water Leakage in Train Coach Goes Viral

A Twitter user wrote,''Indian Railway has launched NEW SUITE COACH with open shower facility. Indian railways are also discussing to provide shower gel, Shampoo & Bathrobe to the passengers in these trains.''

The Congress party reshared the video, taking a dig at the Railways by stating, "Instead of indulging in empty propaganda, it would have been better if some actual work had been done for the Railways." The Grand Old party also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has flagged off several new trains in recent years. "The railway minister who only waves the flag is currently abroad; the designated railway minister should take notice," it added.

Netta D'Souza, acting president of Mahila Congress, tweeted, "Who is responsible for the plight of Indian Railways?"

Another user expressed frustration, stating, "Despite paying a premium fare for a 2-tier AC seat, passengers continue to endure significant inconveniences. Will #IndianRailways consider refunding the fare to passengers of the affected coach??? Seriously, the quality of railway service is deteriorating with each passing day, which is deeply disheartening."

Hours later, Western Railway responded by stating that the issue was quickly resolved and that all coaches on the Avantika Express were checked. The railway said that passenger convenience is its top priority and that it will not tolerate any inconvenience to passengers.

The incident comes amid growing criticism of Indian Railways, with several passengers complaining about train delays and overcrowded coaches.
