OP Rawat, who took charge today, said, "It is a quasi-judicial matter so it is not right to comment on it. But I would like to say that whenever Election Commission takes a decision, it keeps in view that there is no weakness, infirmity in it."

Meanwhile, Shri Ashok Lavasa takes charge as new Election Commissioner. The three-member Commission is now complete, with Shri Sunil Arora as the continuing third member.

President Ram Nath Kovind has disqualified 20 of its MLAs in Delhi for holding offices of profit, a decision the party said showed constitutional authorities were behaving like "handmaidens of the central government".

The disqualified AAP MLAs moved the Delhi high court against their disqualification on the ground of holding "office of profit".
