Chhattisgarh News: Online Property Tax Payment Facility Now Available in 53 Urban Local Bodies Across the State

Chhattisgarh's Urban Administration and Development Department has expanded the GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal to 53 urban local bodies. The initiative enables citizens to pay property taxes remotely, promoting transparent, citizen-centric e-governance and reducing the need for in-person visits. The expansion covers numerous councils and municipalities statewide.

With the objective of modernising local self-governance and providing citizen-centric services, the Urban Administration and Development Department has expanded the online property tax payment facility to 53 urban local bodies across the state. This initiative allows citizens to pay property tax anytime from their homes or workplaces, eliminating the need to visit municipal offices or stand in long queues.

To strengthen digital service delivery, the department launched the online property tax payment facility in 46 new urban local bodies in August this year. Earlier, this facility was available only in seven municipal corporations-Raipur, Durg, Risali, Bhilai, Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh. In August 2025, the service was further extended to three additional municipal corporations-Birgaon, Bhilai-Charoda and Dhamtari-along with 43 municipal councils. With this expansion, online property tax payments through the GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal are now available in 53 urban local bodies statewide.

The GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal for 43 municipal councils was launched on August 12 during the 'Swachhta Sangam' programme organised in Bilaspur by the Urban Administration and Development Department. Since August 2025, citizens in municipal councils including Tilda-Neora, Gobranawapara, Arang, Gariaband, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Mahasamund, Bagbahara, Saraipali, Kumhari, Ahiwara, Jamul, Balod, Dalli Rajhara, Bemetara, Dongargarh, Khairagarh, Kawardha, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Kanker, Kirandul, Bade Bacheli, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Mungeli, Dipka, Katghora, Janjgir-Naila, Champa, Sakti, Akaltara, Kharsia, Sarangarh, Jashpur Nagar, Balrampur, Surajpur, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur and Shivpur Charcha are availing the online property tax payment facility.

Expressing satisfaction over the initiative, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that providing transparent, simple and convenient services to all citizens of Chhattisgarh is the top priority of the state government. He said the online property tax payment facility in urban local bodies is a significant step in this direction, as it frees citizens from repeated office visits and long queues.

The Chief Minister noted that digital facilities are now reaching even remote areas such as Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur, where residents are paying property taxes online from their homes. This, he said, is a major achievement towards modernising local self-governance and realising the vision of 'Digital Chhattisgarh'. "Our goal is to make urban services completely online and citizen-centric, ensuring convenience, transparency and time savings for every family," the Chief Minister said.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that the online property tax payment facility has directly benefited lakhs of urban residents. He described the system as a major reform towards transparent governance, e-governance and the expansion of digital services. He added that residents of remote municipal areas can now easily pay taxes from home, saving time, reducing the scope for corruption and enhancing the efficiency of local self-governance. He reiterated the government's commitment to making all urban services fully online, simple and citizen-focused.
