OneIndia impact: First day at work for Siachen braveheart Hanumanthappa's wife
Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani, had offered Mahadevi Koppad a job in the central silk board following OneIndia's campaign
Mahadevi Koppad, wife of Siachen braveheart Hanumanthappa Koppad is all set to begin her first day at central silk board. A month after OneIndia ran a campaign in support of the martyr's family and reminded the government about the promises that were unfulfilled, Mahadevi received job offers from various private and government entities. On Monday, Mahadevi Koppad will begin her work at the central silk board office in Hubli.

Following the OneIndia campaign, Union Minister Smriti Irani had promised to offer a job to Mahadevi. We are glad to announce that the minister kept her promise and offered Siachen martyr's wife, an offer to work in the central silk board office in Hubli. The job comes at a time when Mahadevi's daughter, Netra begins her schooling starting this academic year.

"I will start going to work on Monday. I have to interact with the farmers who come with their silk produce to the office. I do not know how I will do but I am going to try," Mahadevi told OneIndia. The Karnataka government had offered a job to Siachen martyr's wife but had failed to keep up the promise. Series of reports in OneIndia drew the government's attention to the forgotten promises and swift response from the Union government has now ensured a government job for Hanumanthappa's wife. We at OneIndia wishes Mahadevi the very best in her new endeavour and thank each of our readers for making this campaign a success.
