Omar Abdullah Asks: Has Life Improved in J&K Post-Article 370?

In a significant appeal to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, the National Conference leader, emphasized the critical role of public choice in the aftermath of Article 370's abrogation. During a series of political engagements in the Beerwah assembly segment of Budgam district, including workers conventions, public gatherings, road shows, and rallies, Abdullah highlighted the changes—or lack thereof—in the daily lives of the people since August 5, 2019.

Life After Article 370 in J&K?

Abdullah, contesting from Baramulla as the National Conference candidate, posed a direct question to the electorate regarding their quality of life post the pivotal 2019 decision. He outlined several parameters such as employment rates, electricity and water supply, ration availability, and road conditions as indicators for the voters to assess their current situation.

The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir reflected on his tenure as an MLA from Beerwah. He expressed regret that the developmental work initiated during his term remained incomplete due to subsequent governance. Abdullah's critique extended to the ruling authorities over the past years, accusing them of neglecting public welfare and engaging in unjust practices.

Addressing a pressing concern among the youth, Abdullah highlighted the growing frustration due to unemployment. He also raised alarms over the security of lands allotted to locals by National Conference founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, which he claimed are now under threat.

With a call for strong support in the upcoming parliamentary and assembly elections, Omar Abdullah urged voters to reflect on their circumstances and choose wisely. His message was clear: if life has not improved since the abrogation of Article 370, it is imperative for the National Conference to secure a decisive victory to advocate for the rights and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir's people.
