Om Prakash Kohli assumes additional charge as Goa Governor

He was administered the oath by Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Mohit Shah at a ceremony, which was attended by state chief minister Manohar Parrikar, opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane and other ministers. The new Governor was given the guard of honour after the ceremony.
Earlier, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva was given additional charge of Goa after previous Governor B V Wanchoo resigned on July 4, a day after CBI had quizzed him in the VVIP chopper deal case.
Kohli, a former member of Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2000, had led Delhi unit of BJP as its president in 1999-2000. A post-graduate in Hindi from the University of Delhi, Kohli had served as a lecturer at Hansraj College and Deshbandhu College, for over 37 years.
He has penned three books in Hindi, namely 'Rashtriya Suraksha Ke Morche Par', 'Shiksha Niti' and 'Bhaktikal Ke Santon Ki Samajik Chetna'.
