Odisha Road Accident: Bus Overturns In Koraput District, 4 Dead, 40 Injured; CM Majhi Announces ex-Gratia
In a tragic incident in Odisha's Koraput district, a bus accident claimed at least four lives and injured 40 others. The mishap occurred early on Sunday morning when the bus overturned near Dokrighat, close to Gupteswar in the Boipariguda police station area. The accident took place around 5:30 am, according to local police reports.
The bus was carrying approximately 50 devotees from Niali in Cuttack to the Gupteswar temple. Officials suspect that the driver lost control while navigating sharp turns on the hilly road, causing the vehicle to overturn. Among those who died was a 12-year-old boy, adding to the tragedy of the situation.

Rescue Operations and Injuries
The Border Security Force (BSF) and local police were quick to respond, rescuing injured passengers and taking them to Boipariguda hospital. Many of those injured are in critical condition, with several having lost limbs. The group included numerous women and children, highlighting the severity of the accident.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for each family of the deceased. He also directed officials to ensure that those critically injured receive necessary treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

The Chief Minister's announcement aims to provide some relief to grieving families while ensuring medical care for survivors. The government is taking steps to address both immediate needs and longer-term support for those affected by this unfortunate event.
