Congress Steps Up Election Campaign with 'Ghar Ghar' Drive in Odisha
'Ghar Ghar Congress', a new campaign launched by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) aims at creating voter awareness about the alleged failures of both, the BJD government in power for 23 years in the state, and Narendra Modi's central government. Launched amidst upcoming Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, this drive is scheduled to continue till October 15.
The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has commenced a new initiative titled 'Ghar Ghar Congress' in order to connect with voters prior to the forthcoming simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. The campaign aims to educate voters about the alleged shortcomings of both the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, which has been in power in the state for 23 years, and Narendra Modi's central government.
Details of Ghar Ghar Congress Campaign

PCC campaign committee chairman Bijay Patnaik announced that this drive will continue until October 15. He launched this initiative in Gajapati district, where he emphasized that people are cognizant of what he termed as "anti-democratic rule" by both BJD and BJP governments. According to Patnaik, there is a strong desire among people for change and they believe that only Congress can provide them with good governance.
In an effort to garner public support for his party, Patnaik also conducted door-to-door campaigning in Paralekhamundi town. This direct interaction strategy is likely aimed at creating personal connections with potential voters and persuading them towards supporting the Congress party.
Congress Contributions Highlighted
The senior leader from Congress underscored his party's historical contributions towards India’s development during its tenure at various times since independence. He highlighted how it was under a Congress-led government that major developmental activities were initiated across India including significant projects within Odisha itself.
Patnaik specifically mentioned some key infrastructure projects such as Hirakud, Indravati and Upper Kolab irrigation facilities; road construction; hydroelectric projects; schools; hospitals etc., all of which were implemented by previous congress led governments. Additionally, he pointed out that it was under then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's leadership that the subsidized rice scheme was not only implemented but also converted into an Act, providing a lifeline for many impoverished families in the state.
In conclusion, with this new 'Ghar Ghar Congress' campaign, OPCC seems to be making a concerted effort to regain lost ground by reaching out directly to voters across Odisha. By highlighting their past contributions and promising good governance, they hope to convince voters of their ability to bring about desired changes. Whether this strategy will succeed in swaying public opinion towards Congress remains yet to be seen as the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls draw nearer.
