Odisha MLAs Set to Attend Navy Day Celebrations in Puri with President Droupadi Murmu

State MLAs from Odisha will join the Navy Day celebrations in Puri on December 4, as announced by Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy. President Droupadi Murmu is also expected to attend the event. Padhy mentioned that lawmakers would travel to the pilgrim town in special buses, and they may bring their spouses to witness the naval display.

The assembly might be adjourned on December 4 to facilitate the MLAs' visit to Puri. A formal notification regarding this adjournment and the lawmakers' visit is anticipated on Tuesday, according to a senior official from the assembly secretariat.

Preparations for Navy Day

Navy personnel conducted a full-dress rehearsal at Puri beach for the second day in a row on Monday. The event is set to commence at Blue Flag Beach in Puri at 3:45 pm on Wednesday. Various performances, including bomb burst manoeuvres, submarine sail past, and anti-submarine firing, will be showcased by the naval forces.

The celebration will feature 15 warships and 40 aircraft, highlighting the Indian Navy's diverse capabilities. The event aims to boost maritime awareness among citizens and celebrate India's rich maritime heritage.

Coordination and Arrangements

The Indian Navy and Odisha government are collaborating closely to ensure the event's smooth execution. Special provisions have been made for local spectators and tourists attending the celebration.

Additional attractions include anti-air firing, combat free fall, and horn pipe dance performances by naval personnel. These activities are designed to demonstrate the navy's skills and entertain attendees.

The Navy Day celebrations serve as an opportunity to honour India's seafaring history while showcasing modern naval prowess. The collaboration between state authorities and the navy underscores the significance of this annual event.
