Odisha CM to Prosecute Those Looting Mineral Resources, Ensures Justice

On a significant visit to Keonjhar, his hometown, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made a firm commitment to address the illegal mining activities that have plagued the region. Speaking to a public assembly, Majhi, who has been a staunch opponent of the previous BJD government's policies, accused them of enabling the exploitation of Keonjhar's mineral wealth, detrimentally affecting the local population and environment.

Majhi's allegations pointed towards a systematic failure under the previous administration, highlighting how external entities exploited Keonjhar's resources, leaving the tribal community in distress. The Chief Minister's resolve was clear: those responsible for the mining exploitation would face legal consequences in both Keonjhar and Bhubaneswar.

Reflecting on his political journey, Majhi recounted an offer from senior BJD leaders that he rejected, choosing instead to stand by his principles and the welfare of Odisha. His dedication to these principles was evident in his immediate actions upon taking office, notably the reopening of all gates of the Jagannath temple and the establishment of a Rs 500 crore corpus for its maintenance.

The Chief Minister did not shy away from criticizing the previous government's inefficiencies, particularly in governance and respect towards women. He attributed the BJD's electoral losses partly to their disregard for public sentiment and poor management of public meetings by figures such as V K Pandian, a close aide to former CM Naveen Patnaik.

Majhi also highlighted the economic injustice towards Keonjhar, revealing a substantial reduction in its budget despite its significant contribution to the state's mineral revenues. His vision for Keonjhar's development was ambitious, aiming to transform it into one of Odisha's leading districts with active participation from its residents.

During his visit, Majhi led a roadshow that culminated at Maa Tarini temple in Ghatagaon, where he sought divine blessings for his tenure and announced an additional Rs 50 crore grant for the temple's development. This gesture underscored his commitment to not only Keonjhar's economic but also its spiritual and cultural prosperity.

The Chief Minister's visit was marked by widespread local support, with residents and BJP supporters lining up to witness the procession. Majhi's call for a national tourism site tag for Maa Tarini temple from the central government further emphasized his focus on leveraging Keonjhar's cultural heritage for broader development goals.

In conclusion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's visit to Keonjhar was not just a homecoming but a strong statement of intent against corruption and neglect. With a clear focus on justice, development, and respect for cultural heritage, Majhi sets out on a mission to build a "new Odisha" over his five-year term, backed by the blessings of Maa Tarini and the support of his constituents.
