Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Visits Balasore Train Accident Site

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik arrived at the accident site in Balasore, where a tragic collision between three trains claimed the lives of 233 people and left over 900 injured. His visit followed the arrival of Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who announced a comprehensive high-level inquiry into the incident, along with an independent investigation by the rail safety commissioner. During their visit, both officials closely monitored the ongoing rescue operations and engaged with ground-level officials.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were seen interacting with officials on the ground overseeing the rescue operations.

"It's a big tragic accident. Railway, NDRF, SDRF, and State govt are conducting the rescue operation. Best possible healthcare facilities will be provided. Compensation was announced yesterday. A high-level committee has been formed to inquire about it," the Railways Minister said, as per news agency ANI.

"Our focus is on rescue and relief operations. Restoration will begin after clearance from district administration. A detailed high-level inquiry will be conducted and the rail safety commissioner will also do an independent inquiry," he added.

He thanked the NDRF officials who are actively engaged in the search and rescue operation.

    In the aftermath of the tragic Coromondel Express accident, Bengal BJP Chief Sukanta Majumdar paid a visit to the injured victims at Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore. Expressing his condolences, Majumdar offered his support and solidarity to those affected by the tragedy.

    Similarly, TMC MP Dola Sen also visited the accident site, indicating that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee might visit the affected individuals on Sunday. Sen mentioned that the Chief Minister had already dispatched officials, doctors, and a trauma ambulance from Kharagpur to provide immediate assistance.
