Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Raises Risk Allowance for SOG Jawans to Rs 25,000
Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, praised the Special Operation Group (SOG) for their significant contribution to an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh. This operation resulted in the deaths of 14 Maoists. As a result, the risk allowance for SOG personnel has been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000 per month.

The Odisha Chief Minister's Office (CMO) shared on X that the joint operation took place in the Kularighat area of Chhattisgarh, near Nuapada district. The SOG jawans were instrumental in this mission. "Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has congratulated all the jawans," the CMO stated.
Enhanced Risk Allowance for SOG Jawans
The state government has decided to raise the special risk allowance for these jawans to Rs 25,000 monthly. This decision was made in recognition of their bravery and dedication during the operation. The Chief Minister also mentioned plans to intensify anti-Naxal operations in Odisha in the future.
In a statement, Odisha Police revealed that among the 14 Maoists killed were five women members of the CPI Maoist group and a central committee member named Ramachandra, also known as Chalapathi. This joint inter-state operation involved Odisha SOG, Chhattisgarh police, and CRPF personnel.
Details of the Operation
During the intense exchange of gunfire, one SOG jawan sustained injuries but was later reported to be out of danger after receiving medical treatment. Odisha DGP YB Khurania confirmed this update regarding the injured jawan's condition.
The successful operation highlights the collaboration between different security forces and underscores Odisha's commitment to combating Maoist activities. The increased risk allowance aims to motivate and support the SOG personnel who play a crucial role in maintaining security.
