Obama's 1982 Love Letter Creates A Stir: 'I Make Love To Men Daily, But…'

A love letter written by former US President Barack Obama in the 80s is creating quite a stir. In the letter addressed to his then-girlfriend, he talks about his "androgynous" feelings.

In one of the letters, Obama confessed to "making love to men daily, but in the imagination." The former US President has claimed about having a daily connection with men within his imagination.

He was 21 when he opened his heart out to Alex McNear in November 1982. They studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles. "In regard to homosexuality, I must say that I believe this is an attempt to remove oneself from the present, a refusal perhaps to perpetuate the endless farce of earthly life. You see, I make love to men daily, but in the imagination."

This was also a part of David Garrow's extensive 1,472-page work titled 'Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama' published in 2017. Garrow spent a total of eight hours across three days in conversation with Obama to craft this voluminous tome.

"So when Alex showed me the letters from Barack, she redacted one paragraph in one of them and just said, 'It's about homosexuality," Garrow told Tablet in a recent interview.

"My mind is androgynous to a great extend and I hope to make it more so until I can think in terms of people, not women as opposed to men,' Obama said in the letter.

In spite of these confessions, the former Barack Obama accepted his identity as a male. "But in returning to the body, I see that I have been made a man, and physically in life, I choose to accept the contingency."

However, his ex-girlfriend sold the letter later and it is currently with Emroy University. "I have a very clear memory of Alex being embarrassed about selling the letters,' Garrow felt.

Harvey Klehr, his associate, transcribed the paragraphs on behalf of the author and subsequently supplied the censored segment of the letter to The New York Post.

However, Obama has been married to Michelle since 1992. They have two daughters and ín 2004 had declared 'homosexuality is not a choice'.
