Visa Ban not a barrier anymore? Obama greets Modi with 'Kem Chho'; Calls him a "Man of Action"

Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar: In a brief interaction with Narendra Modi at the gala dinner (hosted by Myanmar President Thein Sein for world leaders attending the ASEAN and the East Asian summits), US President Barack Obama greeted him with a hearty 'Kem Chho' (how are you?) in Gujrati. Well, he did not stop at that. One would not believe that this was the same US diplomat who was weighing visa options for the Indian Premier, when he called Modi a "Man of Action".

This was the second meeting that they had in six weeks, after the Prime Minister was hosted at the White HOuse in Washington in the last week of September. The dinner was hosted on the eve of their summit talks on September 29.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted after the dinner,"Prez Obama greets PM @narendramodi at Gala dinner - 'You are a man of action!,"

Prime MInister Narendra Modi kicked off his 11-day foreign tour yesterday with Myanmar where he held bilateral talks with President U Thein Sein. The main agenda was to strenthen the bilateral ties with the nation and beef up trade and commerce. Mosi is said to have insisted on improving the regional connectivity for trade and enhance people to people regional contact.

After having met him at the the Presidential Palace for about 45 minutes, Modi tweeted,"ad a very good meeting with President Thein Sein. We had extensive discussions covering various aspects of our bilateral relations. We talked about strengthening ties in the fields of culture, commerce & enhancing connectivity."
