Nun rape case: CID nets a major fish

‎Inching a step closer in cracking the nun rape case, the Criminal Investigating Department has taken into custody Khalidur Rehman alias Mintu.

Rehman holds the key in leading the investigators up to Milan Sarkar, the kingpin of the case who has been giving both the West Bengal and Bangladesh police a run for their money. [Nun rape case: Accused came to India by bribing Rs 2,000]

Why is Rehman important:

After the CID arrested Salim Shaikh, an accused in the case, details of the incident had become extremely clear. The motive had become extremely clear and the CID proceeded further on the basis of his questioning.

Salim had clearly stated that the incident was aimed at only robbing the convent. There was never any intention of either desecrating the convent or raping the nun. She stood in the way of the robbery and hence we assaulted her, he had said.

However the CID also learnt that ‎they had their masters in Bangladesh. The entire operation was mastered by Rehman alias Mintu and Milan Sarkar.

They were running a racket for the past ten years now. They often hired immigrants changed their names and lured them into committing robberies and hate crimes with an intent of blaming the Indian government.

Where in Milan Sarkar?

The puzzle that needs to be solved now is regarding Milan Sarkar. The kingpin of the racket is extremely close to Mintu who is his right hand man. Mintu was on a train trying to get back to West Bengal after he had initially fled to Bangladesh.

Sarkar's arrest will solve a major problem for both the West Bengal and Bangladesh police. The police have also alerted the Interpol about him.
