NRI youth's murder case: Security guards' bail plea dismissed

New Delhi, Sept 24: A Delhi court today dismissed the bail pleas of two security guards,

in connection with the

student Anmol Sarna, after a party on the night of September 17.

Metropolitan magistrate Deepak Wason rejected the bail applications of Surender Bali (40) and Naresh Mishra (60), who were deployed as guards at the South Park Apartments in Kalkaji and are currently in Tihar Jail till September 30.

The court denied them bail saying that the probe is at an initial stage and the allegations against the duo are also very serious in nature. It also said that when the other four accused, who have not been arrested directly for the murder of Anmol, were also not granted bail by this court, then how can it (the court) grant bail to the guards, who have been booked under section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

The court on September 20 had rejected the bail pleas of Anmol's friends -- Shivank Gambhir, Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah and Ritham Girhotra -- who all were partying together. According to police, 24-year-old Anmol was murdered after a scuffle at a farewell party at Pranil's flat in South Park Apartment in Kalkaji on September 17 night.

Police had said that Anmol and his friends had consumed drugs in Pranil's bedroom around 9 PM. Around midnight, as the drugs took effect, Anmol allegedly started screaming and turned violent, smashing an LCD television set and damaging some other articles. While three friends left the premises walking and were later picked up by Shivank's father in an inebriated state, Anmol sat outside the duplex house on the second-floor and kept screaming.
