Now you can spot two white tigers in Delhi zoo: Watch

Two white tiger subs were released at the Zoological Park in Delhi for viewing by Union Environment Minister, Bhupender Yadav.

They were born in August last year, following a gap of seven years. News agency ANI shared a video of the two cubs playing with each other.

The two were released into the arena on Thursday. The zoo however remains shut on Friday. Delhi Zoo director Akanksha Mahajan told the Indian Express that, considering the crowd at the Zoo over the weekend, the father of the two cubs Vijay will released into the arena for viewing .

Mahajan also said that the cubs will be released again starting Monday. Their reactions will be monitored before they are eventually released for viewing over the weekends, Mahajan said.

On August 24 2022, three white tiger cubs were born to the white tigress Sita marking the first successful breeding of white tigers at the Delhi Zoo.

"We welcome our new guests. Three white tiger cubs born in Delhi zoo," the National Zoological Park, New Delhi wrote while sharing images of the tigers.

One of the cubs had however died after falling ill in December. PTI while quoting an official said that the cub died due to to genetic problems associated with inbreedings.

Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director General of Forest told the media that the two cubs were living in the Zoological park, Mathura Road, Delhi.

"Today Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav released them in a big enclosure," Goyal said. He also said that the Central Zoo Authority monitors the cub's movement. It is being looked after as per world standards, he also said.
