Now, you can check IRCTC Live train status via WhatsApp: Here's how

New Delhi, July 24: Ever wondered if you can check your train and live train status online through WhatsApp? Well, thanks to Indian railways, now you can check train statuses on WhatsApp, and make provisions beforehand.

Indian Railways have come to terms with MakeMyTrip, an travel company headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, to let users check online train status using WhatsApp.

Passengers can keep themselves updated with live train status, PNR status, departed railway station, emerging railway station and more. It will eliminate a passenger's need to dial 139 for live train running status or download some random, third-party apps on his/her smartphone.

Here's what you need to do:

• To avail the facility, a passenger will have to save a number, which is- 7349389104 via MakeMyTrip on their mobile phones.
• The person then will have to send a train number on this number through WhatsApp, and details of the respective train will be provided.
• Passengers must note that if the server isn't busy, you can expect a response, with the details of the respective train, within 10 seconds of making the request.
• But one can always look out for blue ticks to know if the server has received the message or not.

This new feature has been incorporated in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and has been in operation since June this year.
