Now, buy tomatoes from outside UP assembly, courtesy Congress
On Friday, Congress workers sold tomatoes outside Uttar Pradesh assembly in Lucknow to protest against rising prices of vegetables.
Lucknow, August 4: Imagine everyday instead of going to the nearby vegetable market, you pay your visit to the assembly building in your capital city to buy greens, to be precise tomatoes.
On Friday, Congress workers sold tomatoes outside Uttar Pradesh assembly in Lucknow to protest against rising prices of vegetables.

The workers of the party put up a vegetable stall full of tomatoes outside the massive assembly building. The tomatoes were priced at Rs 10 each kilogram.
The 'sellers' had also put up a banner stating, "Tamatar key aye achhe din (Good days have arrived for tomatoes)", in front of their stall. The slogan of the Congress workers mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popular election catchphrase, "Achhe din aane waale hain (Good days are coming)".
In most cities and towns across the country, tomato price has increased exponentially. Till June, tomatoes were sold at Rs 15-20 per kilogram in most of the cities. Now, price of tomato has become Rs 80-100 per kilogram in all the major cities. Likewise, prices of other vegetables, including onions, too have increased a lot.
The Congress workers have also started a bank called, State Bank of Tomato, in Lucknow to protest against rising prices.
The bank provides facilities like easy loans for buying tomatoes, attractive interest rates on its deposit and locker facility, as a novel way to protest the soaring price of the vegetable.
"I have deposited half kilogram tomatoes. I will get one kilogram after six months. I'm 103-year-old, never thought have to see this," Srikrishna Verma, a customer of the bank, was quoted as saying by ANI.
