Now, #BoycottBharatMatrimony trends on Twitter as users call it 'Hinduphobic' ad

After Swiggy, now a Matrimonial website Bharat Matrimony has come under fire for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

The angry Hindus have called out the website, using the hashtag #BoycottBharatMatrimony. It all started after the official Bharat Matrimony Twitter account drew the wrath of Hindu fundamentalists after they shared a women's day special ad on the occasion of Holi.

The 75-second video ad shows a woman having her face smeared with colours washing them off with water. As the colours started to fade, another face emerged with marks and bruises all over eyes, forehead, nose and the mouth suggesting that the lady was abused when she played Holi.

"A lot of women have stopped playing Holi due to the trauma they experience through harassment. Watch this video that brings this to life in a hard hitting way. This Holi, let's celebrate Women's Day, and choose to keep them safe everyday. #BeChoosy #Holi #Holi2023 #WomensDay", the website tweeted the ad video along with this caption.

"Some colours don't wash away easy. Harassment during Holi leads to immense trauma. Today, a third of women who've faced this trauma, have stopped playing Holi.", the ad claims citing a 2021 Times of India report on women's safety during Holi.

The idea of the ad was to highlight the importance of a safe holi for women. It emphasized consent and never use the festival as justification for physical harm.

Howecer, it didnt go well with the netizens. One of the users wrote, "I promise I will never recommend your portal to anyone ! I will show this post to them , and I am sure they will be convinced why not to use this website !"

Another user wrote, "Are you guys shameless or what? Don't you want Hindu customers or you don't care about Hindu customers? Remove your ad from all your platforms and put an unconditional apology otherwise, a champion against your company will start by Hindus."
