Apart from delivering arms and ammunitions, the robots would be used for surveillance.
Around 544 robots will fight terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The indigenously built robots will be capable of delivering ammunition at intended locations and this would come in handy for the Indian Army to fight terror in the trouble torn state.

The Army made the request to the Ministry of Defence following an increase in the number of terrorists in the state. Terrorists have used the dense jungles as hideouts and in such a scenario the robots would come in handy to fight terrorists in the Valley.

Apart from delivering arms and ammunitions, the robots would be used for surveillance and gathering real time information about the movement of terrorists. The robots will have a capability of of picking up inputs and transmission from a range of 200 metres.
A Hindustan Times report stated that the approval for the robotic surveillance platform has been granted under the 'Make' category of acquisition in the Defence Procurement Procedure 2016 that lays down that only Indian vendors are eligible for the projects.
The army has also factored in the possibility of two or more teams operating jointly in a target area. "A second unit which can be operated alongside the first unit by a single operator with the same remote (having at least dual display screen) should also form part of the system," the report also states.
