NOTA makes little impact in its debut

New Delhi, Dec 8: The much-discussed

(None Of The Above) option has made little or no impact in the elections this year. NOTA was introduced this year as the first major step towards electoral reforms.

In Chhattisgarh, 2042 people used NOTA option in Raman Singh's constituency Rajnandgaon. Raman Singh won by over 30000 votes. At least 1500 people rejected Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, says NOTA records. In New Delhi constituency in Delhi, where Sheila Dikhsit and Arvind Kejriwal contested, 360 people used NOTA option. 3769 people used NOTA in Jhalrapatan constituency where Vasundhara Raje won a landslide victory. However, in some constituencies like Dhantewada, 8 per cent of the votes counted was for NOTA (3208 votes for NOTA in a total of 40122).
