Not right to write off Lalu Prasad Yadav as yet

The Yadavs are most likely to rally behind him strongly after this episode.

It is being said that the bigger loser in the Bihar drama is Lalu Prasad Yadav. However many analysts that OneIndia spoke with say that it would not be right to write Lalu off as yet.

Lalu Prasad Yadav

While addressing the media on Wednesday, he said, "I requested Nitish Kumar not to break the alliance and resign. Let us honour the mandate that the people have given us."

Lalu knew by then that the alliance was over. But in this statement he sent a clear message to his voter that he did his best to save the alliance for which the people had given their mandate for.

For now, Lalu may be down, but he is known to bounce back. He will always remain a player in Bihar say analysts. He has fought an election from jail and his party gained immensely. In Bihar the caste factor is very strong in every election. This factor rises above all other factors in Bihar. Analysts are of the view that Lalu will be seen as the victim in this incident and also the man who tried to save the alliance.

The Yadavs are most likely to rally behind him strongly after this episode as they would see it as their man being wronged, analysts say. During every election in Bihar the Kurmis (Nitish Kumar's caste) and the Yadavs stay away from each other. The two however came together to fight the assembly elections in Bihar. With this break away, both castes are likely to rally even more stronger behind their respective leaders and this is why Lalu is likely to gain on this front.
