Not just Film City, a Film Institute too to come up along Yamuna Expressway
Aspiring actors and technicians in Uttar Pradesh will have a film institute to hone their skills in the coming days. It will come up along the Yamuna Expressway.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is allotting 5.5 acre of land for setting up the film institute under the institutional category in Sector 22E. It has to be noted that the UP government has already allotted 1,000 acre for the Film City which will be just 6 km from the upcoming international airport in Jewar.

"One plot of over 5 acre has been reserved for the film training institute. With Film City in the vicinity, there is a need to have such a facility that can teach students video editing, documentary filmmaking and dubbing among other technical aspects. The plot will be allotted through e-auction," The Times of India quoted YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh as saying.
Meanwhile, YEIDA has extended the last date of application for investments in its film city from February 28 to March 31. "The extension was done on the request of prospective bidders," an official, who wished not to be quoted, told Moneycontrol.
According to CEO Singh, companies such as Sony has shown interest in the project which will come up in Sector 21. This is said to be a pet project of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
"We have floated a global tender for the film city. It is coming up in Sector 21 and we have received many queries from big guns like Sony, Fox, Universal," he told the website in an interview. He is hoping that some big companies will take part in the bidding process.
"Only when they apply will we be able to know because the tender system is such that you cannot know the name before opening the bids. So we are waiting for that, but we hope that some big companies will come," Singh said.
By 2024, the first phase of the project is expected to be ready while the final phase is expected to be over by 2029.
The Film City offers a number of features, including pre- and post-production facilities, as well as film tourism. The project aims at creating a state-of-the-art film and media infrastructure that includes film studios, sound stages, post-production facilities, outdoor shooting locations and other supporting facilities such as hotels, restaurants and recreational areas.
It will also have space for creative media art production, music dubbing studios, editing studios, VFX studios, movie premiere arenas, film festival arenas, a film museum and a theme park. The project is expected to attract both domestic and international filmmakers and production houses, thereby boosting the growth of the Indian film and media industry.
