Noida set to become data centre hub as India expects massive investment

In a bid to cultivate Uttar Pradesh's commercial landscape, the State government has embarked upon a mega project to develop data centre parks in Noida. Spread over 200 acres of land at Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), this project is expected to attract huge investments from IT industry giants in India and abroad.

Noida set to become data centre hub as India expects massive investment

The park will include state-of-the-art facilities like office space, seminar halls, conference rooms etc., to enable business continuity activities for the customers. Its expected commissioning is in July 2025 with generation of more than a thousand employment opportunities.

These parks would be dedicated areas for the development of data centres, which are facilities used to house computer systems and associated components. Data centres are critical infrastructure for the digital economy as they provide the computing power necessary to support a wide range of online services and applications.

Some of the top investing companies include NIDP Private Limited (a part of Hiranandani Group of Companies), Sify Technologies, STT Global Data Centre India Private Limited and NTT Global (formerly known as Netmagic IT Services Pvt Ltd.).

According to reports, Sify is going to invest Rs 11,000 crore and has requested for 30 acres of land while Hiranandani Group will invest Rs 8,000 crore and has asked for 25 acres of land. The accumulated investment and capacity will make UP the largest centre of data storage in North India.

Speaking on the project, YEIDA Chief Executive Arun Vir Singh said, ''Sify has submitted its application and deposited Rs 70 crore in the Authority's account. Hiranandani and many other companies have also sought land.''

The proposed Data Centre Parks in YEIDA would provide world-class infrastructure and amenities to support the development of data centres. This includes a reliable power supply, high-speed connectivity and a supportive regulatory framework. The parks would also provide a range of other amenities such as office space, residential accommodation and recreational facilities.

The development of Data Centre Parks in YEIDA is seen as a key step in positioning the region as a hub for digital infrastructure and technology. It is expected to attract significant investment from domestic and international companies and generate massive employment opportunities for the local population.
