Noida Schools Remain Closed: Online Classes To Continue Until This Date

Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) continued to face severe air pollution on Sunday, November 24, as the region's air quality remained in the 'very poor' and 'severe' categories. A thick layer of smog was visible across Delhi-NCR this morning, adding to the region's already concerning pollution levels

Faridabad recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 309, Gurugram 240, Ghaziabad 312, Greater Noida 304, and Noida 309, according to IANS.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) categorises the AQI as follows: 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 is 'satisfactory', 101-200 is 'moderate', 201-300 is 'poor', 301-400 is 'very poor', and 401-500 is 'severe'. The current AQI levels indicate a hazardous environment, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues.

Are Schools Closed In Noida Tomorrow?

In response to the poor air quality, schools in Noida and other areas in Gautam Budh Nagar will remain closed until tomorrow, November 25, according to the Times Now report. The previous order had suspended physical classes until November 23, but this has now been extended. All classes, from pre-school to Class 12, will continue online. The official notice from the District Inspector of Schools stated that the closure is due to the breach of the 'severe' AQI category.

To combat the worsening air quality, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4 measures are in place. These include a ban on the entry of trucks, except for those carrying essential items, and restrictions on construction work for public projects. The Supreme Court has ruled that these measures will remain in place for the next 72 hours, with a review planned for next week to discuss possible relaxations, particularly concerning schools.

As Delhi-NCR battles hazardous air, authorities continue to urge residents to limit outdoor activities and take necessary precautions to protect their health.
