Two men were apprehended in Noida on Wednesday in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man who allegedly passed away after being struck in the head by the duo during a party hosted by their YouTuber friend in Greater Noida, according to the police.
The Incident
The incident occurred in Mohammadpur Gurjar when the victim, Deepak Singh, attended a party hosted by YouTuber Manish Singh, a mutual friend of the accused and the deceased. According to Additional DCP Greater Noida Ashok Kumar Sharma, an argument broke out among some intoxicated individuals at the party, leading to Deepak being punched in the head and assaulted before he departed for home.
The Aftermath
Deepak's health deteriorated later that night, and he was rushed to a hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on January 29 due to a blood clot in the head, as reported by the police.
Arrests and Charges
Following a complaint filed by Manish's father, the local Dankaur police station registered an FIR. Subsequently, the accused, identified as Yogendra and Vijay, were detained for questioning. On Wednesday, they were formally arrested.
The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 147 and 149 (both related to rioting), 323 (assault), and 304 (causing death by negligence).
The incident highlights the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and the potential for violence in such situations. The authorities are investigating the matter further to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of Deepak Singh.
