Noida Jail Bribery Case: Probe Ordered After Under-trials Family Alleges Extortion

The action came after the family wrote a letter to CM Yogi Adityanath claiming that Rs 2 lakh in bribe was sought and the inmate was being assaulted.

In a serious allegation against the local jail authorities in Noida, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has initiated a probe into the bribery claims made by the family of an undertrial prisoner. The family wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that they were asked to pay a bribe of Rs 2 lakh and that the inmate was being assaulted in the prison.

Audio Clip Surfaces

Adding fuel to the fire, a purported audio clip of a phone call related to the matter has surfaced online. The authenticity of the clip is yet to be verified, but it has certainly caught the attention of the authorities.

District Magistrate Orders Investigation

Taking swift action, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has ordered an investigation into the claims made by the family. Additional DM Nitin Madan has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a thorough inquiry and submitting a comprehensive report of the findings.

Undertrail Arrested in Fake Call Centre Raid

The undertrial in question was arrested last week during a joint raid conducted by the UP Special Task Force and Noida Police. The raid targeted a fake call center that was allegedly duping US and Canadian citizens on the pretext of tech support. The accused, along with 15 others, was booked on charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and other related offenses. They were subsequently sent to Luksar Jail in Greater Noida.
