Noida: BJP workers block DND, demand scrapping of toll plaza
Noida, Apr 8: Thousands of commuters plying between Delhi and Noida faced massive traffic jam, on Wednesday, after hundreds of BJP workers protested on the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, demanding removal of toll plaza from the high speed road.
As per TV reports, some 400 BJP workers gathered on the DND and blocked traffic. Alleging that the operator of the flyway has made significant profits already, the protesters demanded that the toll collected for using the road be scrapped.

This is not the first time when activists are blocking the DND for such a demand. Earlier, several political and social groups have demanded scrapping of the toll plaza. [Noida: DND flyway hikes toll rates by Rs 3 for cars; residents term it unjustified]
Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) has filed a PIL in the Allahabad High Court in Nov 2012 seeking an end to the unjustified toll fee and appealing for a toll-free DND.
As per the residents welfare association, Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL), which constructed the high speed road connecting South Delhi with Noida, has already earned double the amount it has invested by way of toll fee alone.
