Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Raises Land Compensation for Noida Airport Farmers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an increase in compensation for farmers providing land for the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar. The rate has been raised by Rs 1,200 per square meter, addressing farmers' long-standing demands. This decision was made during a meeting with farmers at Adityanath's official residence.

Increased Land Compensation for Noida Airport Farmers

The compensation rate for land acquisition under the airport's third phase has increased from Rs 3,100 to Rs 4,300 per square meter. Additional interest will also be provided as per norms. Adityanath assured that measures will be taken to address rehabilitation, employment, and resettlement of affected farmers and their families.

Airport Project Developments

The Noida International Airport is set to become India's largest upon completion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate it in April. Flight operations are scheduled to begin in April 2025. The airport will include a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhauling (MRO) facility spanning 40 acres for global aircraft maintenance operations.

During the dialogue programme, Adityanath interacted with farmers to address their concerns and demands. He invited the CEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to update attendees on land acquisition and rehabilitation efforts under the first two phases.

Infrastructure and Connectivity Enhancements

Adityanath highlighted the project's role in boosting industrial infrastructure, creating jobs, enhancing exports, and promoting air travel and tourism. Several industrial sectors near the airport within YEIDA's jurisdiction have already been developed, strengthening the region's industrial base.

The airport will be connected to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway via an interchange at the Yamuna Expressway. A station for the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail will be built near the airport terminal. An RRTS Rapid Rail Transit System linking New Delhi and Greater Noida has received state approval and awaits central government clearance.

Land Acquisition Progress

CEO Arun Vir Singh informed that compensation has been distributed except for cases pending due to inheritance disputes. The Chief Minister instructed Singh to prioritize resolving individual farmers' issues. Adityanath praised farmers' cooperation, noting that 1,334 hectares (approximately 3,300 acres) have been acquired over two years without disputes.

The high-speed rail connection will reduce travel time between Delhi and Jewar airport to just 21 minutes. The airport is also linked to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway via a 30-km stretch in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Future Prospects

The Noida International Airport is projected to handle 70 million passengers annually when fully completed. Connectivity infrastructure like the Eastern Peripheral Road, Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail will ensure seamless access to the airport.

The project site received central government clearance in July 2017 and principal approval in May 2018. Adityanath reiterated that this world-class airport development will propel Uttar Pradesh towards economic and industrial growth.
