Panaji, Apr 16: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday said there is no water crisis in the coastal state barring a few places.

"Water situation in Goa is good except for a few parts. There are some isolated areas where we might have water shortage but all attempts are being made to tide over the crisis," he said.

Goa facing slight water shortage

Some parts in Bardez taluka may have to put up with water shortage though the supply is being made from Sal to Assnora water treatment plant, Parsekar said, adding some parts in his constituency of Mandrem are currently facing shortage as these areas fall at the tail-end of water supply.

"There are problems in Mandrem constituency, but the government has given financial sanction for construction of a 15 MLD plant at Tuem village in the constituency," he said.

"As the plant will take time to be completed, in the meantime another 10 MLD plant will be constructed at Tuem, the work of which has been expedited. Water shortage won't exist once these plants are constructed," the Chief Minister said.

"From next year, there will be no shortage of water for the villages in this area," he said.
