No VIP treatment for Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Z-plus security withdrawn

Briefing the media, Haryana Chief Secretary Depinder Singh, said Z-plus security stood automatically withdrawn immediately after the arrest.

Refuting all the reports of rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh getting special treatment in the Rohtak jail, Haryana Chief Secretary on Saturday said that the former is being treated as a normal prisoner and handled according to the Haryana jail manual.

    Briefing the media, Haryana Chief Secretary Depinder Singh Dhesi said, "The moment he was arrested on Friday, his 'Z plus' security cover stood automatically withdrawn."

    Two FIRs have been filed under sedition charges, possession of weapons like AK-47 and assault on the IG against seven associates of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

    Singh said: "Two sedition cases have been registered during the entire process, probe underway."

    The officer denied reports of VIP treatment given to Ram Rahim Singh in Rohtak jail. He reiterated that Gurmeet Ram Rahim was taken through a helicopter 'purely on security considerations'.

    "Helicopter was arranged by the Haryana Government, they had paid for it," he added.

    "He is being treated as an ordinary prisoner. It was reported that he was being an air conditioner, there is nothing like that. As far as food is concerned, he is served the same food which other prisoners have," he added

    Of 32 people killed in the violence, 28 deaths are reported in Panchkula-24 men, three women and a child. Three deaths have been reported from Sirsa.

    He confirmed that injured people are not local Panchkula residents, 'not even one'. Police is in the process of establishing the identity of the 28 dead persons.
