No simultaneous polls in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said simultaneous assembly polls will not be held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. All three states are going to polls by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

OP Rawat told a private television that current laws do not allow for the simultaneous polls, Besides, lack of logistical support add to the problem.

BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh government's term will come to end on 07.01.2019. The election for 230 seats is being proposed between December 2018-January 2019. Another BJP ruled state Chhattisgarh government's term will end on 05.01.2019. Rajasthan government's term will end in the same month.

All the three assembly elections are crucial as the next general election will be held in 2019. These elections are being closely watched by both BJP and the Congress.
