This is to enhance tourism in the region and provide employment. The metered taxi will play in the Siliguri sub division areas under the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA).
The main motto behind the service is to give employment to the local unemployed youths and to enhance the tourism industry of the region.

According to the transport authority, a total of 1,552 permits have been provided to the selected youths of the region.
