No racial discrimination will be allowed to take place: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi, Feb 4: Amidst outrage over the alleged assault and stripping of a Tanzanian woman in Bengaluru, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday, Feb 4 said the incident is a matter of shame and no racial discrimination will be tolerated in the country.

"For 200 years, India was enslaved by foreigners. We have been fighting racial discrimination. But in India itself, if there is racial discrimination, the government will take it very seriously. "We will not allow racial discrimination to take place in the country.

This is a matter of shame for the entire nation," the Minister of State for Home told reporters here. A 21-year-old Tanzanian student was allegedly beaten up and stripped by a mob in a case of "mistaken identity" after a woman was mowed down by a car in Bengaluru on Sunday night.

Five persons have been arrested in this connection.
